BakerSituation
A Baker customer had been contracted to do a scheduled maintenance
shut down at a paper mill. They were required to clean out a number
of lubricant reservoirs within the plant. Since they had never done
a project like this before they asked Baker to consult on the job.
The gear lubricant contained in the tanks needed to be heated to
120 degrees Fahrenheit in order to reach a viscosity that was pumpable.
The fluid was to be reused after being emptied from the tanks. The
customer explained that there would be a layer of sludge at the
bottom of the main tank that would need to be removed and discarded.
The fluid had be kept at constant 120 degrees throughout the project,
even while being stored in the Baker tanks.
The project needed to begin promptly on Monday morning and the Baker
rep was required to attend a safety contractors meeting the very
next morning. The rep rearranged his schedule to accommodate this
meeting.
BakerSolution
Baker designed a solution that included the use of 2-Stainless Steel
Tankers and berms, a coil tank with a berm, 2-550 gallon Stainless
Steel Cubes with berms, 2-6" pumps bushed down to 4" with
berms and all of the fittings to adapt to the reservoirs. The job
also required 250 feet of cam-lock suction hose and a steam generation
plant to keep the fluid at the right temperature while in the tanks.
Delivery of all tanks and equipment was scheduled for Monday morning
and arrived on site on time as expected.
BakerResults
The customer was extremely pleased and was able to meet the plant's
schedule and perform the job. Baker's ability to meet and exceed
all required customer expectations, work with customers, peers and
partners resulted in another win for the Baker team. Ask the Baker
rep and he'd be the first to tell you, "without the support
from the drivers, operations and the guys in the yard, a salesman
is just a salesman. With the help and support we have, our sales
team can't lose."
