Baker Helps Maintain Delicate Balance between Progress and Nature
BakerSituation
A company building a $32 million concrete fish bypass on the Columbia
River needs to clean the water dredged out of the pre-cast concrete
cells before it can be dumped back into the river.
BakerSolution
Baker consultants designed a system that included four Baker Style
Tanks (manifolded), a two-pod sand filter and a 6" dry prime
pump. A CO2 bubbler treated the pH of the water. The sand filtration
system, pioneered by Baker, is Chitosan enhanced to clean the turbidity
of the water measured by an online monitor. The Baker tanks held
the water during purification after which it was pumped back into
the Columbia River.
BakerResults
Baker experts called on their extensive line of products to hone
the exact solution for the challenging river project. The entire
system was installed and running in less than a week. The water
was purified to the clarity of drinking water and pumped back into
the river on time and on budget.
